M65 Doug Smith and W35 Colleen Barney, training partners for the past several years in Orange County, California, finally meet for a match race they'd been talking about for months.

Colleen Barney had a slight lead at the start of the 100, but Doug Smith came back to beat her by a few tenths. Later, she would beat him in the 200, and they would race a third time -- with Doug squeaking to victory in a 55-meter rubber race.
